Shakespeare in the Spring
Feather Posting for April-May

Spring is here and a little Falcon Bird can soon be heard singing or rather speaking the poetic lines of William Shakespeare in the wilds of an open air theater.  That's right folks, Thunder has been cast in the Maplewood Barn Theater's upcoming production of The Merry Wives of Windsor.  She will be playing Mistress Quickly, in a fab fifties rendition of Shakespeare's rockus comedy, being helmed by director Christy Le Master.

The play will also feature the Shakespearean Player, Whitney Keene Derendinger as the roguish Flagstaff, with Elizabeth Irving and Gabriella Johnson rounding out the cast as the very merry and mischievous wives,
Mistress Ford
and Mistress Page.  The play opens May the 21st and will enjoy a three week run, bringing merriment and mischief to April showers and May flowers.  Stay tuned to this station for more updates coming your way.

William Shakespeare's Merry Wives of Windsor
Feather Posting from the Spirit Galleries - April, 2004

Laid out here for your careful examination, there are a
number of mysteries at work in the Bard's nefarious comedy
of errors The Merry Wives of Windsor.  For example, will our hero (due to the lack of a better candidate for the position) Sir John Falstaff get his heart's desire and become the well kept man of a really rich married woman, or will he be mistaken for a fat lady in a really ugly dress?  Do the Merry Wives genuinely intend to take Falstaff as their very own kept knight that they'll share on weekends, or will they make special arrangements to have him burned alive?  Oh and pray you, what will become of us and the world at large when Master Ford stumbles on the horrible truth that his wife really loves him?  And is there the slightest chance the Host of the Garter will ever sober up?  With the evidence at hand, probably not.

But I dare say that we're only scraping the surface of our diligent inquiry.  Moving on to pry into the very heart of the matter, can our other young hero Master Fenton and his ever fetching wart find happiness and true love with his intended sweetheart Anne Page or will he end up getting saddled with the
creature from the black lagoon?
And while we're on the subject of mysteries, just how many suitors does Mistress Quickly have lined up for the pretty Anne Page anyway?  Does she keep a few spares in her underwear?  Find out the answers to these pressing questions and many more in the Barn's fifties inspired production of William Shakespeare's comedy The Merry Wives of Windsor
